The Snack Sack was created for two reasons, the first of which was simply to reduce the contact between children and plastic. The leaching of chemicals from plastic in toys and food storage containers is quickly becoming a major issue for many parents, and so we are proud to say that the Snack Sack is petro-free. For more information on this, please see our FAQ. The second reason why the Snack Sack was created was to help reduce the waste that is created when plastic bags are used for snacks on the go. There are various estimates of the number of plastic bags discarded by Americans each year, and while individual estimates do vary greatly, they all have one thing in common--the number is incomprehensible. |
Recently I ran into a problem and, like with the Snack Sack, it led to a new idea. My daughter, Ellie, was about to turn one and I wanted to find some alternative to the traditional trashbag full of wrapping paper that seems to come along with every birthday and Christmas celebration in my house. Eager to start a new tradition, I wrapped her presents in fabric, which we saved and plan to use this holiday season. If you're looking to reduce your annual bag of trash this Christmas, and maybe start a tradition of your own, I've made a few extra cloth gift bags. The cloth bags come in various sizes and fabrics, each with a matching ribbon permanently attached, allowing you to use it for years. |

I just want to say that for this last Christmas all of our gifts were wrapped in reusable wrapping and they were beautiful--not to mention that cleanup was a cinch, fold them up and put them in the closet. If you are interested in these bags but are not pleased with the fabric choices available please email me, I may be able to accomodate your requests. We are in the process of selecting non-holiday fabrics and putting them on the website but our business is growing so quickly that we are having a hard time getting everything done when we want to. I guess that's just the life of a mom! |

With the unique cloth cover and stainless steel bowl set-up, the Snack Sack allows you to transport almost anything that you would normally take in a plastic baggie. The Snack Sack has a carrying capacity of four inches round by five inches high (about the size of a formula canister or a quart-sized Ziploc bag), so there is more than enough room for food. Most snacks only take up a fraction of the available space, and because it is made of cloth, the Snack Sack collapses down and doesn't take up precious room in your diaper bag, purse or backpack. |

The Snack Sack is also very clean. When filling it, you can just slide the bowl out, fill it with apples or crackers or even steamed veggies, and then slide the bowl back in. When you're done, pull the bowl out and rinse it. The cloth bag is safe for the washing machine on those days when it really gets a good use. The Snack Sack was designed to be used on the go, as well as at home. It comes with a carabiner that easy attaches to a belt loop, purse strap, diaper bag or backpack. Additionally, the Snack Sack has a cotton drawstring that allows you to tie the bag shut when not in use. When you are ready for your child to have a snack, you can loosen the drawstring all the way and allow the sack to open entirely. Alternatively, you can tie off the drawstring so the opening is a little smaller but big enough for your child's hand to reach in.
